About Mary Ann Furniss

Mary Ann is a gifted Leadership and Retirement Planning Coach, drawing on over twenty-five years of leadership in a Fortune 500 company and a decade in federal and state government organizations. She has served in a variety of executive and management roles in several functional business areas that include Information Systems, Human Resources, Franchising, and Planning. Of all of her accomplishments, Mary Ann is most proud of how she has coached and helped develop hundreds of her business associates over the years.

Mary Ann’s career began at NASA where she was part of the spacecraft tracking team for the early manned spacecraft flights. It was during that early phase of her career that she first gained her understanding of and enthusiasm for what a tightly knit team of professionals could accomplish in a short period of time. She has drawn upon that experience to create and maintain excellent teams to accomplish many large and complex projects and goals over the years.

When Mary Ann left the corporate world, she worked with her own personal coach to develop a plan for how she would live out the rest of her life with meaning and purpose and be happy, joyous, and free. The obvious choice for her was to become a coach herself and share what she had learned in all of her wonderful years of experience working with and developing others. As part of her new life direction, Mary Ann founded her own coaching company, Inside Track Coaching, Inc. and developed a special niche called Embracing Your Retirement to provide retirement planning help for other baby boomers retiring.

As part of their own retirement planning, Mary Ann and her husband carefully considered where to retire and concluded that NC retirement living suited their needs perfectly. As a result they built a new home custom-designed for “graceful aging” on the banks of the Brunswick River in the North Carolina Low Country.

Mary Ann has a BS degree in Mathematics and an MBA in Executive Management. She is currently pursuing advanced studies in coaching at Coach University, the oldest and finest coaching university in the world. Mary Ann is also a member of the International Coach Federation (ICF) and the North Carolina Association of Personal and Business Coaches (NCAPBC). She has obtained her certification in Retirement Coaching from Retirement Options, the leading retirement coaching training and consulting company.
